Sandoval Lake 4days: The Sandoval Lake is located within the Tambopata National Reserve 10 km from the city of Puerto Maldonado, downstream right bank of the river Madre de Dios to 30 minutes by boat and approximately hour walk up to Maloka Sandoval lodge on the shores of Lake Sandoval reserve.

This lake is formed by a bend in the river Mother of God and is one of the most beautiful lakes in the Peruvian Amazon, exceptional to observe a great diversity of fauna place has great natural scenic beauty as a great ictiolĂłgica and surrounded wealth of extensive aguajales the same that is protected by Peruvian law.

Tours Day 1: Puerto Maldonado Sandoval Tour Monkey Island Lake

Reception and transfer by our specialist guide in ecotourism Airport or Puerto Maldonado to Puerto de Captaincy where we board the motor boat that will lead us to a navigation of 35 minutes on the Madre de Dios River to reach the checkpoint Reserve Tambopata national to check in. Here we will take an exciting walk 40 minutes or until a narrow channel surrounded by forest, which leads to the open waters of Lake Sandoval, allowing us to see an excellent scenic beauty between water and palm trees rising tides, and learn about the forest may hear strange noises from other animals that surprise us with their presence, while we cross the lake.

On arrival at MALOKA lakeshore, after a short rest we depart on our boat to the other end of the lake where we will observe different types of ecosystems at different times that allows us to see a lot of birds like the shansho (Hoatzin) a bird prehistoric, the darters, cormorants, orioles, kingfishers, and the famous taricayas, which rest on the dry fallen logs in the mirror of the lake, observe the palm aguaje (flexuosa Maurita) among other species, our proximity to the forest allows us have one or more close encounters with mammals such as the six species of monkeys that there are those who perform their ritual before finding a tree for the night.

Tours Day 2: Sandoval Lake – Observation of Giant Otters – Alligators Exploration Flora

After our breakfast at dawn we board our boat to head in search of the so precious otters and giant otters from ancestors years there is a large family with several individuals who have lost their fear of man and can appreciate them very closely and let us delight with his presence ensuring good photographic views, the same way our way we can see the species of macaws (Aras macaws) breast multicolored yellow and red giving a special colorful trees and palms. We can also see the Maracanas (Arasevera) and maracanás of aguajal (manilata orthopsitaca) overflying the airspace, we see the mantle of butterflies multicolored accompanying us on our journey, back to the lodge to be approved by the tourist you can bathe in a special area of the lake and observe the diversity of palm trees forming a landscaped oasis.

After lunch we will walk through the lush jungle and thus to appreciate the primary forest with its ancient trees like Shihuahuacos, kapok, and renacos which are the emerging trees of the forest which are home to all kinds of mammals this blanket of trees it is rich in leaves and fruits that are havens for food and rest of animals and birds, to have luck you can see a jaguar lurking their prey equally see some birds like parrots and partridges pose for eat fruit, also we see hallucinogenic plants like ayahuasca and other plants used for healing.

On our return to the lodge we observe the oasis produced by the sunshine for its concealment in its wake will see such famous black caiman which are currently very rare and attractive while blending with the brightness of Lake .So same observe other animals night as reptiles and birds that go down to the lake shore in search of water.

Tours Day 3: Sandoval Lake – Colpa of Palms and Adventure (Canopy tower)

Early in the morning we will visit the clay lick Macaws in palm located, 35 min walk across the lake. Observe as they begin their fluttering ceremony before starting the clay lick, macaws and parrots multicolored coming down the palm-lined Shebon (Attalea butyracea) and begin to extract the stem of the palm, making a noise and wonderful show and observe also other species of birds found on the lookout for macaws and parrots like eagles that try to catch them after watching this show back to the lake to watch wildlife.

After lunch and a short break we will observe 5 species of monkeys that are on the shore of the lake as the howler monkey is generally found in emerging trees taking a break while the monk monkey and stumps are left look very close and you can see them when they go in search of a tree to spend the night and see the so famous Amazonian fish such as pirarucu in evening hours usually goes to the lake surface for air and produces a loud noise with its large fins .

At dusk we will have a second chance to see the black caiman in the path of our journey, birds and amphibians that produce sleazy singing their melodies.

Tours Day 4: Sandoval Lake Return to Puerto Maldonado and areopuerto / Terminal Terrestre

Very early in the morning time we reach a small ride on the lake, trying to see once again the family of giant otters and watch the rising sun with its light and some species of animals that forage for food.

After our breakfast we will take a boat to the city of Puerto Maldonado.
